Muller & Bros. Di Maggio Horsehide Stadium Jacket

The Muller & Bros. Di Maggio jacket takes its name from the iconic baseball player. It is inspired by the varsity and stadium jackets from the 1930s. This kind of jackets usually featured a boiled wool body, leather arms in the school’s colours, ribbing on the cuffs and waistband, and would have a letter sewn onto the jacket to represent the school.

Stephane Muller used time-honoured methods, and the best materials to create this jacket. It features a loose-weave Melton Japanese wool carefully woven by artisans from Oshu (Aichi prefecture), and the sleeves are made of premium horsehide leather. Horsehide is a luxury leather often hailed as the all-rounder for its durability and handsome aesthetic. Horses are reared in smaller groups and receive a higher level of care compared to cows, so their skin is generally free of blemishes or damage, which allows tanneries to produce a top-quality leather that has a super-fine grain and smooth hand.

Horsehide also has a high level of natural water repellency, which is only bolstered by the tanning process, and its robust composition makes it resistant to stretching or losing its shape.

With a small atelier located in the mountains of Okayama, Muller & Bros. has become a choice brand since the launch of their first collection thanks to that inspiration in American and French workwear, a feature of each one of their garments, and to an incredible obsession with quality, construction and detailing.
